As a result, many more millions of people in America will be covered by health insurance and have access to improved health care.

For people with chronic illnesses, such as lupus, this legislation is especially helpful, as now no one can now be denied health insurance coverage due to a pre-existing condition like lupus, treatment for a chronic condition must be covered and life time caps on coverage are now gone.

Protects and improves the portability and continuity of health insurance coverage and requires that most health plans provide coverage for pre-existing medical conditions after 12 months.
